Environment
ARC’s Environmental Service ensures that all waste material streams are recycled within OECD nations, providing complete end-of-life traceability and environmental protection of the highest standards. Our commitment to the environment is recognized nationally by green advocacy organizations, including the Basel Action Network and the Computer Takeback Campaign. ARC processes materials that contain circuit boards, CRTs, and batteries. ARC does not accept items that contain liquid, biological, or radiological wastes. Upon completion of processing, a Certificate of Recycling is furnished to each customer and includes lot specific information. ARC’s Recycling Service maintains compliance with:
• Pollution Liability Insurance requirements
• The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
• The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
• All local, state, and federal guidelines regulating the proper disposal of electronic waste materials.
ARC is one of seven electronics recyclers to hold a contract with the EPA and has signed the Electronics Recycler’s Pledge of True Stewardship which demands:
• No use of landfills
• No shipment of e-waste overseas
• No prison labor
• No harmful work conditions
In 2008, 60 Minutes documented the continued illicit shipment of electronics overseas. To watch the video, please click below. (If you cannot view this video, please contact your IT administartor. The 60 Minutes site may be blocked by your firewall).
